Miami Business Services has launched its Tribal Internship program this month with the addition of Lance Theobald to the MBS staff. MBS offers meaningful, career building experiences for Tribal members to assist them in individual career growth and as preparation for a new generation of Tribal leadership of business enterprises. Mr. Theobald is a graduate of the Miami University of Ohio, with a degree from the highly respected Business School. Mr. Theobald is a former officer of the United States Navy.

The United States Air Force has awarded Miami Business Services a sole source contract, known as Business Enterprise Strategic Sourcing. The services required by this contract are for strategic sourcing expertise to support the work of Commodity Councils within the Air Force; and financial support services and expertise to be provided to the Expeditionary Business Operations Office, which reports to the Department of Defense Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer. A task order was simultaneously awarded to provide operational support based in the Washington, DC Metro area.

Miami Business Services is pleased to announce a new business alliance with Hickory Ground Solutions (HGS). HGS has its headquarters in Virginia, and provides strategic and technology consulting to national security, civil government, and healthcare clients on challenges of global significance. MBS and HGS will both contribute expertise and staff to projects in the federal financial management arena and in healthcare information technology in 2011. Dedication ceremonies were held today for Liberty Park at Dover Air Force Base. 1,600 Team Dover volunteers were led by playground designers, a contracting team that included Miami Business Services, and 436th Civil Engineer Squadron members in the creation of a unique plane-model playground that is compliant with the America Disability Act.

Miami Business Services announces the addition of Ellen Faris as Proposal and Communications Director for both its government and commercial sector activities. Ms. Faris brings over twenty five years of experience in management, training, and technical writing for proposals and projects in biomedicine, information technology, education, engineering, and varied services to the federal government. Previous positions include a SBA award winning corporation in Kansas City, a woman and Native American-owned federal contracting business in the Metro DC area, and an internationally prominent research company with a DoD practice.

Dover Air Force Base dedicated the Fisher House Complex today, which serves wounded warriors and their families. The Fisher House for Families of the Fallen is a unique facility among the Foundation's 49 other Fisher Houses currently operating worldwide. This 8,462 square foot house provides short-term, on-base lodging to bereaved families while they are at Dover. An adjoining 1,714 square foot Meditation Pavilion provides a quiet place for families to gather, pray and reflect during their stay. Miami Business Services provided contracting support for this project, as well as serving as prime contractor for the Center for the Families of the Fallen.

Miami Business Services was awarded a second Basic Agreement by the Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, for construction and design-build services. The contract has a value of up to $40 million and is for rapid response for the remediation of real property. The scope includes architectural, civil, mechanical, plumbing, structural, electrical, HVAC, instrumentation, security, and safety requirements in federal properties.

Miami Business Services served as prime contractor for the Department of Defense Center for the Families of the Fallen at Dover Air Force Base. On January 6 the opening ceremony for the Center was attended by US Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton A. Schwartz, Dr. Jill Biden (wife of Vice President Joe Biden), members of the Delaware Congressional delegation, and other representatives of the Department of Defense. The Center hosts the families of deceased military personnel when their remains are returned to the United States from overseas. The facility provides a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the families, and is staffed by military personnel specifically dedicated to helping them. MBS is proud to have led the contracting team that created a quality environment on a very tight timeline for this important source of aid and comfort to the families of the fallen.
